Maes-y-Nant activity centre is our newest centre and is set in the beautiful Welsh countryside based just outside of Wrexham. They are fully equipped with everything you need for housekeeping. The county does plow the streets, and there is some car parking about a block up, so you can park your car or truck there in the event of snow. We didn't look at the restrooms. We are 39' and that was the only reason she made the reservation for us. Better than train whistles or traffic noise.
Some sites have trees along side the beach so those sites get some shade. One staff member was rude and seemed to think answering questions was not in job duties. Electric, water, and cable supplies reliable. We have wonderful opportunities for children to achieve fantastic things. The price is not high. All centres run a very similar, busy programme with typically 15 activities packed in to the three days at Robinwood.
The rate has again increased. Our dedicated transportation team work closely with our bus company and our bus counselors and directly with our parents, to create safe fast and efficient routes filled with fun. We are frequently told that one of the best things for teachers at Robinwood is seeing children learning and working together in a different environment. Satellite accessibility is not available at most sites because of extensive foliage. I have been here three times and have noticed that this campground has improved every time, and I am looking forward to my next visit. The beach area behind the campsites is a nice large shared use area for campers only. Here's our 2 complaints: First are the gates. There were picnic tables at every site but the fire rings were old and falling apart if they were even there at all.
No planned activities for children or families. If not, read on for more instructions. Site had concrete pad which was the most positive aspect of the park. Although most are offered at all Robinwood centres, there are some which only operate at selected centres. There are also many activities and attractions available in the Town of Shelbyville and the region surrounding Lake Shelbyville such as horseback riding, museums, oddities unique to Shelbyville and many historical attractions.
The sites are nice and long but fairly narrow. Maes-y-Nant dates back to the late Victorian era when it was built as a private house in around 1870. Timber harvests were completed 3 to 4 years ago and allow members opportunity to see parts of the landscape not seen in decades. It was clean, but adequate only to serve its purpose. It is our responsibility to provide your child with a structured, supportive environment, in which they will develop lasting friendships, gain personal insight into the importance of mutual respect, learn to challenge themselves and grow as they seek out new experiences and gain self-confidence through successes. We've been here nearly a year and have never seen a police car or ambulance in the area. Fishing for Saugar, Smallmouth Bass, Bluegill and Channel Catfish is also available. We will not be back. If you aren't careful, your vehicle and rig can get stuck very easily. A smaller cabin has two bedrooms and can sleep up to 6 people, whereas the larger cabin has 4-5 bedrooms and can sleep up to 10 people.
It is older but with mostly good power, water, sewer, but not all sites. There are paved roads and concrete pads with gravel patios. Roads gravel, muddy and potholed, restrooms were clean but really outdated, staff seemed to think it was okay to leave mops and brooms anywhere they stopped using them. Lows Lake adjoins the western club boundary and Lake Lila is a few miles south along the Adirondack Scenic Railway. The reservation system is fairly accurate in describing the size and levelness so if it says slightly unlevel you should believe them.
We also have our own large 2. They don't do it on the weekends. The County does rake the beach. This campground was full, and was turning away reservations, they must be doing something right. One of the highlights of a visit to The Old School is a trip up to Orchan Rocks; a pile of natural boulders that is perfect for children to challenge themselves by seeing which of the small holes they can wriggle through. We would definitely return if in the area.
Adam also likes to get on stage with Howie and entertain everyone at Flagpole. The campground is not in the Academy section of the Navy base. Do all Campgrounds charge fees? All in all we really enjoyed our stay at Camp Meade. Annapolis is more than ten miles away but this is the only nonmilitary park in the area. Robinwood has four Activity Centres; two of which Dobroyd Castle and The Old School are located in the south Pennines market town of Todmorden, benefitting from excellent transport links.
